What is AfterLight
AfterLight presents The Calling — a free outdoor light installation at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos, it gathers the names of the people we carry and displays them in light across the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, night after night, for anyone to walk up to and read.
We do not dwell in loss. We celebrate the fullness of the lives that shaped us. AfterLight is where grief becomes gratitude, and memory becomes light.

Remembrance begins with a name.Tell us who you carry. It takes a minute, it costs nothing, and you can do it from anywhere — you don’t have to be in Denver.
Names rise into light.Every name we receive becomes part of The Calling, illuminated on the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and gathered on the digital wall here on the site.
Memory is lighter when shared.Walk up any night we are open, between dusk and 11 PM. Find your name among the others. Grief is easier to hold in company.

The Calling is open Friday through Sunday nights, Oct 2 – Nov 2, 2026 — free, walk-in, no ticket needed. Here's everything you need to make the most of your evening at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
The wall is lit across five weekends, Friday through Sunday, with one final night on Día de los Muertos.
The wall lights at dusk — approximately 7:00 PM — and stays lit until 11:00 PM on each of our nights. There is no ticket and no set entry time. Fridays are the quietest; the closing weekend around Día de los Muertos is the fullest.
